POSITION SUMMARY: Openhouse seeks a compassionate and community-centered Leader to manage a city-funded contract designed to support and uplift Transgender, Gender Nonconforming, and Intersex (TGNCI) older adults and adults with disabilities. The Manager of TGNCI Programs is a passionate advocate for Trans and Gender Nonconforming older adults seeking high quality aging services in San Francisco Bay Area. Our ideal candidate will oversee program development, daily program operations, staff supervision, outreach, program evaluation, contract compliance, and community engagement to ensure TGNCI community members have equitable access to affirming programs, services, resources and opportunities. The Manager will nurture a supportive, culturally responsive environment grounded in dignity, autonomy, and belonging. They will collaborate with internal teams, community partners, and government agencies to grow programming, uplift the voices of TGNCI individuals, and strengthen pathways to health, wellness and social connections. A successful candidate is a relationship-builder who can strengthen existing partnerships and proactively cultivate new collaborations to expand programming with skill-qualified facilitators. The leader brings a mix of people-centered leadership, program management experience, and a deep commitment to equity and justice. The leader is skilled at navigating group dynamics, addressing tender or sensitive issues that arise in participant groups, and using de-escalation practices grounded in respect and trauma-informed care. They will mentor staff in these same skills, fostering a supportive team culture rooted in empathy, equity, and professional growth. Due to the nature of the position, weekend and evening and some additional duties may be required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Community Engagement programs team organizes hundreds of hours of intellectually stimulating activities each month that bring LGBTQIA2S++ older adults together to meet, socialize, and learn together. Working as part of Openhouse’s Community Engagement team, the Manager of TGNCI Programming leads a team who designs and facilitates affirming spaces including social groups, wellness activities, and cultural events that foster belonging and reduce isolation among TGNCI elders in San Francisco. The Manager of TGNCI Programming plays a vital role in advancing Openhouse’s mission to help LGBTQIA2S++ older adults connect, thrive, and age with dignity and joy.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 Program Leadership and Community Partnerships:

• Oversee all aspects of TGNCI programming to support person-centered, TGNCI culturally responsive programming to ensure a safer, inclusive and welcoming environment for TGNCI older adults and adults with disabilities in San Francisco Bay area. 
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key external partners to deliver high quality programming and services. 
• Recruit and support qualified facilitators to lead weekly support groups, workshops, and activities for TGNCI older adults and adults with disabilities in a manner that promotes mutual respect and emotional safety.
• Fostering and demonstrating inclusivity, in both dialogue and action that aligns with Openhouse’s mission.
• Manage team logistics, as needed, for the weekly Trans Resilience Support Group, biweekly 50+ & Fabulous Trans Support Group, TGI Emotional Support Group, Monthly Sunday Celebration Lunch and Karaoke, regular TGI outings, and other TGI-specific programming at Openhouse and offsite.  
• Develop, implement and evaluate programming that is community-informed, affirming, and accessible
• Oversee the TGNCI Advisory Board for meetings and program celebration events. 
• Other duties as assigned. 

Community Outreach, Engagement & Resource Navigation:

• Ensure staff carry out regular wellness calls to the TGNCI community roster and take effective action to provide needed emotional, social, and practical support.  

• Guide staff to engage TGNCI seniors in Openhouse mission through education, information about programs and services and community-building opportunities.  

• Oversee referral pathways ensuring proper level of support to TGNCI seniors and adults with disabilities, including addressing barriers to future engagement and service connection, with short-term practical support, and referrals to longer term support services when available.  

• Ensure staff support community engagement activities and Openhouse services as needed.  

• Work with staff to advocate and refer community members to TGNCI Community Case manager and/or Openhouse Resource and referral navigator for service providers such as rent relief, food bank, support services/case management, etc.  

• Support staff in referring interested community members to collaborative partner TGNCI older adult programs: SFCHC, TGIJP, and Shanti-PAWS programs
• Providing and eliciting community member feedback about Openhouse programs and partnership programs and helping continue to make improvements in program delivery and services over time.  
• Other duties as assigned. 

Contract Compliance and Program Evaluation: 

• Manage city-funded TGNCI Older Adults & Adults with Disabilities program, ensuring full alignment with grant and contract requirements.
• Ensure Openhouse participants are accurately registered and enrolled into internal and external city databases and in compliance with Department of Disability & Aging Services requirements.
• Maintain accurate, confidential participants' records and ensure timely reporting and documentation.
• Ensure program evaluations and Consumer Satisfaction surveys are completed twice per year with participants and volunteers to maintain high quality programming tailored to program outcomes.
• Ensure data collection using internal databases (Neon One) and external reporting systems (GetCare).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working with older LGBTQIA++ adults or equivalent experience working with other populations with unique socialization and service needs including but not limited to dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, behavioral health, caregiver wellness, traumatic brain injury, etc.
• 2+ year's experience supervising or mentoring staff.
• 2+ years of experience in program management, community services, social services, or related leadership roles.
• Sensitivity to knowledge of the unique life experiences, challenges, and strengths of the communities supported by Openhouse’s mission.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship building skills.
• Experience facilitating groups (preferably older adults and/or TGNCI population) in settings such as community centers demonstrating ability to manage group energy, respond to changing needs and support participants with empathy   
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, relationship building, and time management skills.  
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to quickly learn software programs, online databases and tools.
• Good critical thinking skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.  

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

In addition to the required qualifications, the ideal candidate for the position will be able to demonstrate:

• Familiarity with de-escalation techniques and conflict–resolution strategies to resolve issues while maintaining the dignity of all involved.

• Community development/organizing skills are highly valued.  
• Experience working with Transgender, Gender non-conforming and Intersex older adults and adults with disabilities is highly valued.
• Experience managing city or government-funded contracts.
• Knowledge of San Francisco’s aging and disability resources preferred.
• Knowledge of and familiarity with client assessment, documentation and databases, and information and referrals appreciated.
• Proficiency in a second language is a plus. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Full COVID vaccination required (or approved accommodation).
• Physical skills and ability to participate in event and program planning and execution, and ability to be independently mobile in the community.

WORKING CONDITIONS & REQUIREMENTS 

• Must be available to attend and work occasional events outside of standard work hours, including: 

• Occasional evening meetings and events 
• Community events throughout the year

• Must be able to travel locally to meetings or offsite events.
• Must be able to operate a computer and other common office machinery such as a copier/printer up to eight hours/day daily.  
• Must be able to work in a shared office space, with moderate levels of noise. 

COMPENSATION: Starting range is $71K to $74K annually, commensurate with experience. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) exempt position. Openhouse offers a dynamic, vibrant, collaborative, and supportive work environment. Position Summary

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for leading CAMP Rehoboth toward achieving its mission while ensuring effective and sustainable operations. The ED implements the strategic plan of CAMP Rehoboth and other policies of the Board of Directors to support the organization’s mission and goals while leading the organization's fundraising, administration, facilities management, advocacy, and program oversight. In partnership with the Board, the ED supports Board development and strategic planning and is responsible for achieving annual and long-term fundraising goals. The ED is responsible for providing internal leadership and overseeing all aspects of the organization’s staffing function, including key volunteers who staff programs. The ED also represents the organization to external constituencies, including funders, donors, elected officials, and the general public. 

CAMP Rehoboth is a community-centered organization that relies on critical volunteer support throughout the year. A crucial aspect of this role is openly and meaningfully communicating with and engaging the Board, staff members, volunteers, and community members of all identities. The new Executive Director must be adept at nonprofit fundraising across revenue streams, including individual and major gifts, institutional and planned giving, annual and digital fundraising, and campaigns, among others, to ensure CAMP Rehoboth’s long-term resilience.

CAMP Rehoboth’s next executive director is a charismatic engaging leader who is passionate about building community and making genuine connections. This is a considerable and consequential leadership role on which CAMP Rehoboth members will rely to build upon its history and lift up the community for years to come.

The ED serves as the chief executive and community ambassador of CAMP Rehoboth providing strategic leadership, organizational management, and vision to ensure the center fulfills its mission of fostering connection, equity, and belonging.

The ED nurtures community by building and sustaining an inclusive environment where people of all backgrounds can gather, learn, and thrive. This role is responsible for developing programs that reflect community needs, strengthening partnerships with local organizations, and ensuring the center remains a trusted hub for resources, education, and engagement. Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the development and implementation of strategic goals and community-based initiatives.

Leadership + Strategy

• Lead CAMP Rehoboth in advancing its mission and strategic plan, ensuring all programs and operations align with its long-term goals and values.
• Translate Board-approved strategic objectives into actionable priorities and measurable outcomes across departments.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and accountability among staff, Board, and volunteers.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and staff, ensuring transparent communication and effective governance.
• Represent CAMP Rehoboth as its chief ambassador with community partners, funders, government officials, and the public.
• Advance an organization-wide focus on the three strategic imperatives—Health, Safety, and Belonging—using them as decision filters for new initiatives.
• Grow CAMP Rehoboth’s presence beyond Rehoboth/Lewes into the wider Sussex County region through partnerships, programming, and visibility.
• Model a “call people in” leadership approach that centers compassion, bridge-building, and community care across generational and class differences.

Organizational + Financial Oversight

• Oversee CAMP Rehoboth’s financial health and sustainability through strategic planning and fiscal accountability; partner with the Deputy Director and the Board’s Finance Committee to develop and monitor the annual operating budget.
• Ensure the Deputy Director and accounting vendors maintain effective systems, policies, and internal controls.
• Approve major financial decisions, contracts, and commitments in partnership with the Board and in alignment with Board-approved policies.
• Oversee and ensure organization-wide compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and nonprofit best practices through delegation to the Deputy Director.
• Evaluate organizational performance, infrastructure, and capacity, ensuring staffing and systems support the mission.
• Lead the design and Board authorization of a capital campaign to address facility debt obligations and reduce operating pressure from mortgage servicing.
• Evaluate and, where appropriate, modernize cost-intensive legacy operations (e.g., print publishing) for financial sustainability while honoring community value.
• Supervise facility security standards and ensure a proactive preventive-maintenance program are in place and reviewed annually.
• Engage the Board in regular risk and crisis management reviews, including event safety planning and insurance adequacy.

(Execution of day-to-day accounting, HR admin, and facility management resides with the Deputy Director.)

Fundraising + External Relations

• Serve as CAMP Rehoboth’s chief fundraiser and external advocate, leading efforts to expand and diversify revenue sources.
• Cultivate and solicit major donors, institutional funders, and community partners in partnership with the Development Manager and Board.
• Ensure the creation and execution of annual and multi-year fundraising plans led by the Development Manager.
• Strategize, plan, and execute periodic capital campaigns whenever necessary to engage the community in support of CAMP Rehoboth’s long-term sustainability and strategic risk management.
• Strengthen CAMP Rehoboth’s visibility and relationships through strategic communications, media engagement, and community partnerships.
• Oversee the organization’s marketing, digital presence, and Letters from CAMP Rehoboth, which are published through the communications manager.
• Build and steward strategic alliances with healthcare, education, and government partners.
• Navigate donor segments with differing perspectives (e.g., legacy donors vs. emerging supporters) to broaden inclusion while maintaining mission integrity.
• Support major community programs (e.g., the Chorus) as visibility and revenue drivers; ensure donor engagement strategies are present at high-attendance events.

People + Culture Leadership

• Ensure that CAMP Rehoboth attracts, retains, and develops a talented and diverse team.
• Supervise senior leadership staff (Deputy Director, Program Manager, Communications Manager, Development Manager, etc.), providing mentorship and guidance while delegating day-to-day operations.
• Promote a culture of equity, belonging, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure that human resources policies and practices—developed and administered by the Deputy Director—reflect CAMP Rehoboth’s values and comply with relevant laws.
• Support staff development by providing coaching and clear growth opportunities and make sure workloads are balanced and shared across the team.
• Ensure strong volunteer pipeline strategies (including younger volunteers and seasonal residents) to counter aging volunteer capacity.
• Embed compassionate community care expectations (presence at key community moments, respectful engagement, trauma-informed practices) into team norms.
• Champion a staff development/continuing-education fund to strengthen team capacity and retention.

Programs + Community Impact

• Provide strategic oversight and accountability for CAMP Rehoboth’s programs and services led by the Program Manager.
• Partner with the Program Manager to evaluate impact, scale successful initiatives, and ensure programmatic alignment with community needs and strategic priorities.
• Develop and maintain high-level relationships with partner organizations, government agencies, and funders that enhance CAMP Rehoboth’s advocacy and programmatic reach.
• Broaden access by expanding programs and outreach westward across Sussex County in response to community geography and growth.
• Evolve advocacy beyond policy to include visibility, relationship-building, and pastoral community care—showing up for the community as a core program value.
• Ensure data-informed program decisions (e.g., heat maps, participation trends) to guide expansion, sunsetting, or partnership transitions.
• Coordinate with health partners to sustain STI/HIV services access in light of grant fluctuations, leveraging clinical partners where appropriate.

Board Relations + Governance

• Collaborate with the Board President to plan meetings, set agendas, and provide timely information and reports.
• Support Board recruitment, orientation, and development to ensure diverse representation and effective governance.
• Partner with the Board on long-term strategic planning, organizational evaluation, and resource development.
• Support succession planning for Board leadership and key committees to ensure continuity and clarity for the ED and staff.

 

Qualifications

Education + Experience Requirements

• Minimum of eight to 10 years in nonprofit management/organizational leadership, with the ability to influence and drive organizational evolution in keeping with the mission, strategic goals, values, and capacity.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, or a relevant field; equivalent work experience will be considered.
• Management/supervisory experience required; Arts and/or event management experience a plus.

Location

This position is located in Rehoboth Beach, DE, and requires the successful candidate to reside in or relocate to the area. A relocation stipend may be negotiated at the time of offer if the chosen candidate resides outside the area. Compensation + Benefits

The salary range for this position is $130,000-$150,000 annually. A competitive benefits package is provided, including, but not limited to:

Executive Director Job Description

 

Founded 25 years ago, Diversity Richmond’s mission is to be a catalyst, a voice, a place, and a resource that enriches and champions a diverse community, aspiring for a vibrant, inclusive community that is safe and welcoming for LGBTQ+ people, families, and allies. We strive to provide programming that is both affirming and advances our mission to hold our systems accountable in promoting full human and civil rights for all Virginians. Our programs seek to enhance the lives of and reinforce community for  LGBTQ+ people by focusing on four key areas of Life, Health, Wellness, and Stability. This model aims to create a resilient and empowered community through increased connections to support, resources, and a community network. 

 

We produce the annual Pridefest that brings thousands of people together and we operate the only non-profit LGBTQ+ art gallery in the South. Our facility and event space is used for recovery groups, community meetings, parties and community celebrations. Our work is often known in the broader community through Diversity Thrift, Richmond's favorite thrift store.  

 

Diversity Richmond’s work has provided leadership for and contributed to moving  our city in a direction where there are pride month celebrations by the mayor and city hall, specific LGBTQ+ tourism campaigns, local business associations, businesses and Richmond institutions that partner with us such as the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Virginia Museum of History and Culture, Richmond Ballet, Virginia Opera among others. 

 

Over the past 25 years,  Diversity Richmond has become an integral part of the fabric of Richmond.  We are committed to shaping our future over the next 25 years, driving organizational advancement while fostering strong community ties. 

 

In aligning with this commitment to growth, Diversity Richmond is putting forth a search for executive leadership. The executive leadership reports directly to the Board. We are seeking a professional, thoughtful, talented and engaged leadership that can move this organization forward to its next level of growth. The Board is open to a co-leadership or single leadership model, obtained through either joint applications or through recommendations from the search committee based on the assessed and indicated skills and experience of individual applications.

 

Diversity Richmond seeks transformational executive leadership who can meet the current national/global moment, especially as it impacts our local communities, with grace, compassion, resilience and humility. The next executive leadership must be capable of furthering and reinforcing operations, building and sustaining trust, and advancing the organization’s mission. The ideal leadership will demonstrate exceptional LGBTQ+ movements and social justice competencies, crisis management skills, strategic vision, impeccable self-awareness, and the ability to earn stakeholder confidence and respect while driving sustainable organizational growth from the perspectives and praxis of queer theory (for examples, please go here and here), intersections of oppression, institutionalized injustice, decolonization, ableism, class systems, casteism, anti-racism and antiblackness.

 

The Executive Leadership, with the support of the Board of Directors, is responsible for: 

 

Vision and Organizational Leadership:

• Working closely with the Board of Directors to:
• Develop and refine the organizational mission, vision, and goals such that they reflect the ongoing dynamic needs and nature of the LGBTQIA+ communities
• Develop and execute implementation plans to accomplish identified goals 
• Provide full transparency of these goals and implementation plans to ensure the Board can successfully meet its fiduciary and strategic responsibilities
• Developing and implementing strategic planning initiatives that will operationalize the organization's mission and strategically strengthen the organization’s offerings in the community
• Leading the continued development and preservation of an organizational culture across staff and board that honors and upholds Diversity Richmond’s core values
• Assessing and conducting ongoing reviews of the organizational structure and developing a sustainable, evolved organizational structure
• Engaging with internal and external stakeholders promoting the mission, vision and values of Diversity Richmond

 

Financial Leadership:

• Developing and directing operational budgets to reflect current initiatives and organizational priorities
• Leading all organizational fundraising and development initiatives
• Overseeing the fiscal performance of Diversity Thrift, a dynamic upcycling retail operation with more than $1 million in annual sales
• Working with internal and external accounting professionals to prepare comprehensive budgets, revenue and expense reports; audits and required filings;
• Overseeing all financial accounts and operations for the organization

 

Operations/Management Leadership:

• Creating and implementing organizational policies, practices and procedures
• Streamlining organizational operations 
• Providing oversight for Diversity Richmond’s program initiatives
• Managing a senior staff of direct reports using performance management methods and tools
• Training staff to assure efficient, professional and values driven day to day operations both for the organization and for Diversity Thrift
• Overseeing Diversity Thrift retail operations and staff management processes

 

The following qualities and experience requirements can be shared if there are to be co-executive directors. The co-directors should have complementary skills. If co-nominees opt to submit a team application, they should clearly identify their proposed division of responsibilities and strengths.

 

Qualities

The Executive Leadership must possess a strong commitment to the LGBTQ+ community and the advancement of inclusion initiatives. 

 

The Executive Leadership must have 

• Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including an
• exceptional ability to develop and manage both internal and external, multiple audience communication strategies and practices
• The ability to build rapport and relationships by utilizing strong leadership and managerial skills 
• Exceptional fiscal stewardship and strategic planning skills 
• Excellent positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve organizational goals 
• The ability to be in person consistently during the work week and at organizational events

 

Experience 

• The executive leadership position requires that there is at  least seven years of professional experience in at least three of the following areas: 
• Transformative leadership
• Non-profit organizational development and management, 
• Financial operations and management
• Fundraising 
• Grant writing and management
• Strategic communication, including digital and mediated communication
• Retail industry management experience
• Real estate asset management
• Large scale event team management
• Crisis management
• The position requires experience working with LGBTQIA+ communities
• The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, social sciences, related fields or commensurate experience; 
• A graduate degree in nonprofit management, business, social sciences or related fields is strongly preferred
